What are we trying to find out?

Usually kidney health checks are taken at GP practices or hospitals, but providing urine samples at the right time can be difficult and inconvenient. We would like to find out if people would like to have kidney health checks in their own communities and how to best provide these checks.

Take part in kidney health research

Join the APPLE-CKD Study. We would like to invite you to participate in a research study coordinated by the Renal Unit at Kings College Hospital.

APPLE-CKD is a study that is looking into the role of Apolipoprotein L1 gene mutations in kidney disease. The study will help us to understand the reason why some people with this gene pattern develop kidney disease while others do not.

If you take part you will only need to come for one visit, where we will take some details about you and some blood and urine samples for analysis.

Become a peer educator

Would you like to be a Community Kidney Champion (Peer Educator) *paid role*?

Are you passionate about improving the health service engagement with people of African and Caribbean heritage communities? We offer transferable employment skills such as communication and listening skills, “Making Every Contact Count” and much more.
